No rushing required. Two weeks is plenty. One main outing and a good meal can fill a day; the numbered outings don’t need to happen in order.

AN AFTERNOON AWAY

Half-day trip to Dolores Hidalgo ↗︎

A half-day from San Miguel: depart at 12:00 pm, return around 7:30–8:00 pm. History, two museums, carnitas, nieves and ceramics.

A few more possibilities. These don’t count toward the main checklist.

BEFORE WE GO

Just a little planning

Book the small places. Tostévere is tiny and fills up; Quince is worth reserving for sunset.

Saturday rides. Book the horse ride ahead and sort out transport for Guanajuato.

Check the day. La Gruta is closed Monday–Tuesday, Sazón on Mondays, Lavanda and Luna de Queso on Sundays, La Cocina de Tata opens Thursday–Sunday only, Cañada de la Virgen closes on Mondays, and Dos Búhos opens Wednesday–Sunday.

Nothing here needs to become a race.

Support local women

If you can afford to and would like to, consider donating to Red Nacional de Refugios to support women and children experiencing domestic violence.

I don’t receive any money or commission from these donations. Supporting local women matters to me, and this is one small way to give back to the places I visit. It takes all of us to stand against gender-based and domestic violence.
